One or two complaints...

So maybe you thought that all was perfect in La-La Land. Not so. I do have one or two complaints to air. Well, three to be exact. First of all, accidentally walking down the wrong aisle in a supermarket (of course I was trying to find some organic juice and healthy hummous...) I came across some Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate...How could I deprive myself of this little taste of home? How amazing that they should have something so familiar and so quintessently British in an obscure supermarket in Southern California. So I bought some. Now, my complaint is that this chocolate does not taste anything like Cadbury's Dairy Milk, which, through long years of training, I could now identify blindfolded. On closer inspection, it turns out that this chocolate is made in the USA by The Hershey Company under license from Cadbury UK. After a quick bit of research on the Internet, I discovered that Hershey have been fobbing this chocolate off as Cadbury's Dairy Milk since 1988! Has no one ever dared tell the Americans that this tastes NOTHING like the real thing? In fact I am having to FORCE myself to eat it as it is really not very nice at all. You can imagine my disappointment...

My second complaint is about ANTS. Perhaps due to the heatwave of last week, there has been an ALMIGHTY invasion of ants into the house and the only way I can eat my breakfast cereal is to pour on the milk then fish out all the floating ants first. This is not the best way to start the day. The mascot of the University is the Anteater (Peter the Anteater) so I am presuming that ants are a common problem round here. However there do not seem to be any real anteaters left except me (in the cereal). The nearest I found is the fleet of buses which transport the students around the campus and which are called the Anteater Express. Anyway, I have now set ant traps because they have got into EVERYTHING!
And finally, just a little moan .....it RAINED! But it didn't just rain, it broke all previous records, so that's two records broken in a week - heat and rainfall. Here are the details from the Internet report: RECORD RAINFALL RECORDED AS STORM POUNDS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. At Los Angeles International Airport 0.43 of an inch of rain fell which broke the previous 1945 record of 0.16 of an inch. So we've had the hottest day ever and the heaviest rainfall EVER. What next............?
