Just up the road from Yucca Valley is the little town of Joshua Tree where the entry to the National Park is situated. There's one cafe which sold me a stale old banana nut muffin (that's all they had - you could practically hear the cheers as I exited: yes! We've sold that old banana nut muffin at last!) Anyway, you have to take survival rations into the desert and in fact I did manage to survive the afternoon on it. And then there's this very inviting-looking place. The Joshua Tree Saloon. Karaoke on Wednesday anyone?
